Security Credential Section (Badging)
Los Angeles World Airport (LAWA) Security Credential Section (SCS) utilizes Security Credentials/Badges to coordinate, direct, control, and monitor the access and movement of people and property throughout the restricted, secured, and sterile areas of all three LAWA airports (Los Angeles International, Van Nuys, and Ontario International).
As the designated credentialing authority for LAWA, the SCS is responsible for the enrollment and management of more than 1,400 companies and divisions in the Security Credential and Terminal Identification programs. The SCS is also responsible for verifying, authenticating, and managing identification and work authorization documents for persons seeking to work at LAWA. Utilizing biometric and biographical data, the SCS ensures that required fingerprint based security clearances and training are complete prior to the issuance of badges and granting of access for a security badge population exceeding 45,000.
TSA’s Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Part 1542 covering Airport Security, is the overarching document governing the procedures and processes performed by the LAWA SCS. This section of regulation is a comprehensive body of specific rules and functions which the LAWA SCS must strictly adhere to.
The following SCS units govern the production, management, and accountability of badges: .Badging, Security Access Analysis, Regulatory Audit & Coordination, Adjudication & Confidential Records/Fingerprint Administration, and Enrollment and Contract Management.
